Miami scored eighty-six first-half points against the Grizzlies

Miami Heat secured a crushing 146 to 114 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies in their first basketball match since player Terry Rozier was detained over suspected unlawful gambling.

Portland Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups was also detained as part of a broad federal investigation into illegal gambling. Both men deny the allegations.

However, the Miami team were focused as they put up eighty-six first-half points to lead the Grizzlies by thirty-nine after two quarters, the biggest halftime lead in the team's 37 year existence.

Adebayo led the way with twenty-four scores and afterwards stated Terry had the team's full backing.

"We support him. Full support," Adebayo stated. "You support him through and through. That's our brother at the end of the day."

Miami head coach Spoelstra added: "Rozier is a person who is important to everyone. He's had a real positive impact on our team.

"Our thoughts are with him and our care for him as he faces this."

Portland also secured their initial match since the arrests, with Brazilian Tiago Splitter stepping in as temporary head coach in Billups' absence and leading the squad to a convincing 139 to 119 victory over the Warriors.

"Everyone experienced great experiences with Chauncey and his coaching style," Tiago remarked. "We're thinking of him and his loved ones but our focus is on the game."

NBA Commissioner Silver 'Disturbed' by Arrests

Speaking about the arrests for the first time, league head Silver said he was "very upset" by the incidents of the recent days.

"There's nothing more important to the league and supporters than the integrity of the competition," he told Amazon Prime. "Therefore I had a pit in my stomach. It was very upsetting."

Silver further mentioned an league probe into Rozier's actions in March 2023, when there was "aberrational betting" in a match he played for the Charlotte Hornets against the Pelicans, discovered no wrongdoing.

"We were informed by the regulators and the gambling firms," he continued.

"We then looked into that situation and were open regarding it. Although there was that aberrational betting, we, frankly, found no evidence.

"Federal authorities has legal authority... [it] can impose penalties, can do all kinds of things that the league office is unable to.

"Therefore, we've been cooperating since then. And, of course, what they announced yesterday was an indictment.

"Moreover two and a half years later, he still hasn't been convicted of any offense, in fairness to Rozier.

"Obviously, it doesn't look good, but he's been suspended, and so it is a balance in this case between upholding rights and investigating."

Following racking up 43 points in a first defeat to the Warriors, the Slovenian put up 49 points - to go with eleven rebounds and 8 assists - as the Los Angeles defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 128-110.

Greek player Giannis Antetokounmpo additionally had a strong performance with thirty-one scores, 20 rebounds and 7 assists in the Bucks' 122 to 116 victory over the Raptors.

Rockets were defeated 115-111 by the Pistons despite 37 scores from Durant, while Victor Wembanyama had 29 points, eleven rebounds and 9 blocks in the San Antonio Spurs' overtime win against the Pelicans.
